I work at Rosetta Stone as Interaction Design Lead. I tend to concentrate on interface design, information architecture and front-end code. When I'm not at work or in front of the computer, I'm most likely spending time with my wife and kids. I can also tell you more about sports (mainly Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks) than most people you will meet.
I believe design on the web is all about communication. I'm here to do more than just make things look pretty. I think websites should be built using web standards. That is to say I believe in the separate of structure, content and behavior. Which is also to say I believe writing clean, semantic code is the best way to provide flexibility today and make changes tomorrow a breeze.

I built this site with XHTML 1.0 for markup and CSS for layout and presentation. I use a superb tool called Coda, which allows for hand-coding and integrated FTP for file publishing.
All graphics for the site (with the exception of some of the icons) were custom made in Adobe Fireworks. Yes, Fireworks, not Photoshop.
This site is hosted on Dreamhost servers and the blog portion of the site is powered by WordPress. I created the design of this site as a theme in WordPress, but it is not in a state where I can distribute the theme, nor would I want to if I could. I'd prefer the style of this site be unique to me, thanks.
Many thanks to my pal, Alan, for helping me with the PHP code necessary to have a functional contact form and for help configuring SimplePie, the handy little tool I'm using to pull in the Murmurs on the homepage from my del.icio.us bookmarks.

I'm Chuck Mallott. I'm a web enthusiast with expertise in interaction design, user experience, HTML and CSS and information architecture. I'm an avid reader, lover of Macs and my favorite past time is spending time with my family.
